When should I NOT get a massage?

As a general rule, we DO NOT recommend receiving a massage when you are at the beginning of an illness (scratchy throat, chills-cold, flu, etc.) or within 48 hours of recovering. Though it may seem like a massage would help you feel better, the truth is there is an increased risk that your illness will perpetuate faster, making you feel worse, longer. The risk of spreading the infection is higher too. We also do not recommend receiving bodywork when you have a contagious skin condition.

There are many ways which we can adapt our techniques during your session to accommodate (or avoid) cuts, bruises, stitches, minor injuries and burns. With some conditions it is a good idea to get an approval from your physician before you receive massage (most specifically cancer, and certain heart conditions).
